New Arc Vector – The One Hundred Thousand Dollars Electric Motorcycle
British company Arc, founder Mark Truman, presented his first production motorcycle, the fully-electric neo-café racer Arc Vector, to the public at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy.
With a top speed rated at 150 mph (240 km/h), and acceleration from zero-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, the Arc Vector with a retail price of $117,000 (£90,000) making it one of the worlds quickest and most expensive motor vehicles.
The neo-cafe racer was developed around integrated multi-sensory HMI (Human Machine Interface) technology, which attempts to blends the rider and machine into one seamless unit through wearable technology.
“It’s the world’s first motorcycle with an innovative heads-up display helmet and a tactile riding suit – all making up the most involving motorcycle experience on the market today.” Truman
There are no screens or gauges, the ‘Zenith’ helmet contains a fighter jet-inspired HUD, which displays the bike stats, includes a rear view camera and also acts as the bikes ignition key.
The haptic ‘Origin’ armored gear provides tactile feedback of the surrounding environment through the vibrations from the embedded speakers, which also, allow you to feel the music.
Instead of a conventional frame, it uses a carbon fiber swing arm optimized for performance and a motorsport-inspired monocoque chassis which is home to the motor, battery and electronic controllers, reducing the bikes weight to a lean 485 pounds (220kg).
The Vector’s custom battery cells provide an estimated range of 170 miles (274 km) in the city and 120 miles (193 km) on the highway.
Arc will build 355 units at a retail price of $117,000 (£90,000), more info at: ARC VECTOR
The CCS DC charger is located under the ‘fuel cap’.
The carbon monocoque chassis houses the motor, battery and electronic controllers, reducing the bikes weight by 25% compared to the competition.
HUB Center steering provides additional stiffness, and lower spring rates, reduces the steering angle for improved agility.
