Triumph Rocket Becomes The Fastest Ever Triumph On The Bonneville Salt Flats
TT Legend Guy Martin pilots the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner to 274.2 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats
The Triumph Rocket Streamliner become the world’s fastest ever Triumph on August 10, 2016 by achieving a speed of 274.2 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Piloted by TT legend Guy Martin, the streamliner smashed the previous Triumph record of 245.667 mph and the unofficial Triumph Record of 264mph, both set by Bob Leppan, in the Gyronaut X-1.
Just after 8:30am Guy Martin in near perfect conditions accelerated the streamliner to a staggering 274.2 mph breaking the 46-year-old Triumph record. The next step for Martin and Triumph will be the land-speed record 376.363 mph (605.697 km/h), held by Rocky Robinson since 2010.
The Triumph Rocket is powered by a pair of turbocharged Rocket II engines producing over 1,000hp, inside a carbon Kevlar monocoque construction with a length of 25.2 feet, 2 feet wide and 3 feet high. Using methanol fuel and aiming for a speed of over 400 mph the bike will be competing in the Division C streamlined motorcycle) category.
