Ducati Desmosedici RR road-legal version of the Desmosedici MotoGP racebike
The Ducati Desmosedici RR (Racing Replica), was claimed to be the first true road-legal replica of Ducati’s 2006 Desmosedici MotoGP race bike.
Ducati began taking reservations in June 2006 with priority given to Ducati 999R owners. Production was projected at one bike per day. Unlike the V-twin bikes which have made the Ducati name famous, the Desmosedici is powered by a L-four layout 1.0-liter, DOHC 16-valve V-4 engine outputting close to 200hp.
The Desmosedici RR came with the steep price tag of just over $70,000US in a limited run of 1500 bikes. The price included a three year warranty and servicing, a racing kit including a race-only exhaust system, and complementary fuel and ignition mapping in a race ECU.
It also included enough sponsor stickers to fill both sides of the bike. With forged magnesium wheels the Desmosedici RR was the first production bike to use them*.
